Pray

More than anything else you can do in supporting us, we desire your prayers highest of all.
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Here are some specific ways you can be praying for us:

Pray for Her

Pray for Ana as she is waiting in Eastern Europe. She may not know that she is waiting, or that she has something great to Hope for. We don’t know her whole circumstances or her whole story, but God does. God has been caring for her and we trust that he has BIG plans for her young life. We really feel that God is working in such big ways both in Eastern Europe in general, and in her life in particular. She is His daughter, and God divinely is calling us to adopt her SPECIFICALLY. She does not yet know about us and our desire to adopt her. But we pray that God will be working on her heart to prepare her in only ways he can do. Also, we rejoice in the amazing work that he is doing to bring her OUT of the prospects of life she would have ahead of her as an orphan with no chance of Adoption within her own country. To give you a perspective of what her future would likely hold, in short, as an orphan, she will only be in Foster Care for another 10 years or so. At 16 they age out. It is very likely it will be very difficult to find a job, because not only is she labeled as an orphan, but also an orphan with a chronic disease that still holds much prejudice  and misunderstanding. She will be without care, without support, without hope. If she should be released and on her own, she will have a stipend and medication. But as a 16 year old kid, she may stop taking her meds because she ‘feels ok’, or choose to sell her medication for money, or a nice gentleman shows up and sees this pretty girl and offers to care for her… and before she knows it, she’s in over hear head in prostitution, drug use or being sold into the sex trade. No matter how you slice it, her future would be GRIM. But now, through God’s redemptive work and calling on our life, 5000 miles away, her future will be full of HOPE and LIFE! Praise Jesus that He is such an amazing Savior and works out such intimate details of our lives to bring us out of darkness and into life! His story is incredible.

Pray for us

Pray for us as we prepare our hearts and our family for Ana’s and the big adjustment she will need. Beyond all the ‘stuff’ we have to get done before she can even get here (the paperwork, the money, the court hearings, the travel), she is just a 5 year old girl who has never known what a Family is like. There is a 5 year hole in her life that will affect her for the rest of her life. We might not be able to fill that, and even though we desire to, it will take a lot of love and grace just to build trust, safety, love, and relationship. She likely doesn’t speak English, so there will be a lot of learning on our part to learn some Eastern Europian to communicate with her. She will be on medication for the rest of her life. Those are heavy. We are ready and willing, but know that it will take a lot of patience and growth and grace on our part. We know that God is preparing us to parent her. It will not be without trial and heartache (just like our biological kids are not without trial and heartache!) We pray for His continued work on us to work diligently to get ready (as best we can!) for providing for her needs, tangible and intangible.
