Day TWO

Yesterday, we were FLOORED.

Today, we feel SMALL.

Because GOD is so BIG.

I [M] got home at a normal time yesterday from work and found the house quiet and not in a state of disarray (which has been the new normal), and was greeted with a smile and a kiss.  Good start of the end of the day!

The girls had cleaned up their rooms and toys and books and schoolwork and were being rewarded with watching the Secret Garden on the computer.  So it was quiet.  And we could talk in normal voices…  About how much God had done for Ana in just 36 hours.  It was going to be a busy week so we took the few minutes while the spagetti squash roasted in the oven to chat and visit and reflect on how amazing God is to Call us to this, and how our life continues on in its struggles, and God still pursues and loves us in ways that we didn’t expect.

Then datenight. We were going to have to cancel for tonight since Natalie had a training event for the ski school, but to our suprise our sitter was able to watch the girls last night and we quickly got ready to go out and date after feeding ourselves and the kids a delicious spagetti squash dinner, practiced the school girls memory verses and let our sitter take over our storytime routine.

I checked the figfund page before heading out:

WOW! So amazing, we were significantly over halfway of our $5000 goal just 38 hours afterward, it was a fantastic thing to see!

Natalie and I had a great conversation with the owners of the wineshop we date at, and sat down for some time to chat about the short-term future, desires and planning for this year’s winter, in particulars to our jobs as ski instructors and traveling to Eastern Europe.  Nice two hour date with tasty wine cocktails.  Good work, good to date, good to be loved by God and one another.

Thinking about what our day two update on the give1save1.com fundraising should be, I checked the figfund website again:

FLOORED” was yesterday.  Today is “SMALL“.

Our vision was small, our goal was small, but Our God is BIG.  And we are so overjoyed, and so Thankful!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!

Thank you to our friends and family who have gave!

Thank you to our friends and family who have shared!

Thank you to our community and networks who have broadcast the give1save1.com post to thousands of people!

Thank you to those who we don’t even know, who found the fund for Ana through the Give1Save1.com Website and by God’s divine plan and were moved to give for her adoption!

We obviously did not anticipate to see such generosity and love towards Ana and her adoption into our family.  Praise God that He is bigger than our anticipations!

We prayed last night, and were convicted that the main thing preventing us from adopting Ana today, is ourselves. We have a lot of paperwork to fill out, the agencies have a lot of paperwork to compile from what we fill out, and then the governments have a lot of work to do to verify and process our paperwork as citizens and fit for adoption.  Praise God for this refining process, and pray for us and the people who are working diligently in the wheel of progress.

So we are re-orienting a bit.

What we need financially to get the ball rolling for all the paperwork, agency fees and our homestudy is almost all covered already through the TWO days as a featured family on Give1Save1. Wow, just typing that is mind-blowing.  What remains and needed to be funded is mostly travel and lodging costs over 3 trips to Eastern Europe early next year, and final documentation fees. Estimated that will be in the $12,000 range. We want to adjust our goals according to the grace shown by God with the following:

Updated Goals
Attempt to raise support for the FigFund to $15,000 by the end of the year.
Pay our $5000 of contract fees by the second week of December out of our own savings and budget as we’ve prayerfully considered.
Complete all our paperwork on our end, ID checks and classed by the third week of December & get our Homestudy done on our end by the end of the year (praying that our dossier arrives in Eastern Europe late January or early February)
Pay up to an additional $5000 by February through personal income from special projects and events.
Raise an additional $6000 to the FigFund or through air-miles to our Adoption Agency for our girls to travel with us to Eastern Europe to bring Ana home.

Please pray for these goals and continue to share the story that is so much a praise to God!  I’ll leave you with the scripture that Christ gave us to confirm in our hearts He wanted us to pursue Ana:

By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! – (2 Corinthians 9:13-15 ESV)
